Craftivism For 2SLGBTQIA+ Justice

Peer Support Group

Craftivism is a form of activism based on practices of craft, such as knitting, collaging, bead work, sewing, and other creative mediums. Craftivism typically integrates aspects of feminist, environmentalist, and anti-capitalist movements, utilizing the social and expressive nature of crafting to communicate solidarity, empowerment, and even action.

The TransCare+ Craftivism For 2SLGBTQIA+ Justice is a drop-in social support group for 2SLGBTQIA+ folks 14 years and older. The group meets on the first Wednesday of the month from 6:30pm and 8:00pm via zoom.

We provide monthly prompts related to 2SLGBTQIA+ social justice and invite folks to interpret these prompts in whatever crafting medium they choose. Folks can feel free to share their work, suggest projects or causes, showcase their work in our newsletter or at our new annual craftivism art showcase.

Crafting materials are not provided. However, financial support can be provided for folks who want to participate, but do not have the means to access materials.
